Is it true about the Terms of Service of AI's?

A respected engineer has informed me that the terms of service of most if not all AI outfits mandate that anything you submit becomes their property, and he said that already he knows of 2 instances of startup ideas being stolen away by the AI outfits. He did not name names.

This is in the OpenAI terms of use.

> Ownership of content. As between you and OpenAI, and to the extent permitted by applicable law, you (a) retain your ownership rights in Input and (b) own the Output. We hereby assign to you all our right, title, and interest, if any, in and to Output.

If you don’t want to name names based on your sources word, how about looking at the terms of service for the outfits they mentioned and validate if it is true or not? If true, then post details. I’m not sure what the point of this post is, other than to waste the time of other readers to do research on your behalf, without the information you claim to have, but won’t share.

I'm with al_borland on this one.

Anthropic have an identical clause. Section 4 of the Consumer Terms

> As between you and Anthropic, and to the extent permitted by applicable law, you retain any right, title, and interest that you have in the Inputs you submit. Subject to your compliance with our Terms, we assign to you all of our right, title, and interest—if any—in Outputs.
